Mayor visits Kensa Health Barnsley to see community care in action

The newly elected Mayor of Barnsley, Cllr Liam Hardcastle, recently visited Kensa Health’s Barnsley Hub to see first-hand how they are delivering person-centered care that helps people remain independent, safe and connected within their own homes and communities.
During the visit, the Mayor was welcomed by Regional Manager (North), Leanne Thomas, and Care Coordinator, Georgina Taylor, who led a tour of the hub and shared insight into day-to-day operations, future development plans, and the service’s wider role within the regional care network.
Delivering community-based care in Barnsley
Opened in 2025, Kensa Health Barnsley forms part of the organisation’s expanding service provision, complementing its wider domiciliary and complex care services across the South and South West of England. The hub plays a key role in strengthening Kensa Health’s commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centered care closer to home.
The visit also highlighted Kensa Health’s contribution to local employment, as the organisation continues to expand opportunities.
Registered Manager, Leanne France, said:
“We’re one of the few sectors in the area that offers roles requiring little to no prior experience. It’s a rewarding career with clear and transparent progression opportunities, while also providing flexibility to support people’s personal commitments.”
As it stands, the Barnsley hub employs up to100 people across community care and managerial roles.
